POSITION SUMMARY
The position is responsible for building the daily shipping
schedules for the DC, incorporating each days LTL,
Truckload/Container, and small package/air shipments. This person
will also schedule any same day add-on or express lane shipments as
they download to our WMS. In addition, they will receive, maintain
and distribute special shipping labels, either required by Lozier,
our customers, or both, that need to be applied to each pallet
and/or carton.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Review LTL, Truckload and Small Package jobs for proper routing
prior to scheduling.
- Communicate shipment volume information to our LTL service
providers.
- Calculate time required for LTL and Truckload trailers and
schedule appropriately across shipping doors. Pull shipping hours
ahead as needed from the next available day to fill out available
shipping capacity.
- Solicit regular feedback from supervisors and shipping leads in
order to help improve scheduling accuracy and receive suggestions
about other improvement opportunities.
- Monitor schedule compliance and make adjustments as
needed.
- Act as the point of contact for the DC for receiving and
distributing special labels. Will distribute to shipping as
needed.
- Will work with customer service and the Order Change Group
regarding adds, changes and deletes.
- Will work with all areas of the company on special requests and
will regularly communicate with the DC supervisors and leads to
maximize customer satisfaction.
- Cross train in other areas of the department to be able to take
on additional responsibilities as needed to ensure proper coverage
in the department.
- Cross train other department employees in the Scheduler
role.
- Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to
work, meetings, and completing assignments.
- Ability to work and interact well with others. JOB
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
Experience: Minimum of2 years of experience in a
warehouse/distribution or transportation environment
Required Skills:
- Intermediate PC skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and use a Warehouse Management System
- Ability to learn different ad hoc systems to complete
scheduling and routing tasks SPECIAL DEMANDS
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
- Overtime as needed
