In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have implemented a number of safety precautions at all of our locations to protect our employees. Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee's responsibility to fully support this vision. Production Utility are hired as members of a manufacturing team. They are responsible for the support of various processing and packaging equipment operations throughout the facility. The General Mills-Joplin plant operates 24 hours per day 5-7 days per week. Position opportunities are on 2nd and 3rd shift. Our shift work schedules include 8 hour and 12 hour shifts. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Production Utility must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends. The starting wage for a Production Utility position is $16.74 per hour with an increase to the wage rate of $17.24 per hour upon successful completion of a 60 day probationary period. General Mills also offers shift differential payment for those working off-shift. Additionally we offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid sick and emergency days, annual incentive programs, disability programs, life insurance and 3 weeks' vacation that start on the first date of hire. Main Responsibilities In this role, you will: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Support production lines by supplying with materials as needed Perform various sanitation and clean up duties Assists operators during bottlenecks or when production lines are shut down Participate in start-up, change over and shut down of operating equipment Rotate through different job tasks Be responsible for executing all required HACCP processes and documentation Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase platform performance Attend meetings and trainings as required Perform additional related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED Proficiency in basic computer skills Must be able to lift, move, push, pull 55 lbs on a regular basis Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, daily overtime or overtime outside of your regular scheduled hours as required (more than 40 hours per week) Must be able to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personal lifts, or platforms Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards and wear all necessary personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat/bump cap, hair/beard net and gloves when required Work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Willing to work around industrial high speed moving machinery Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment Demonstrated leadership ability COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
