Job Description:
The Salvation Army Midland Division Corps located in
Springfield, Missouri, is looking for a Food Services Supervisor.
This position provides supervision to feeding programs of The
Salvation Army - Springfield. This position is expected to comply
with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State, and Local
policies, and standards. This position is expected to advance and
support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
This is a full-time position 40 hours per week with starting pay of
$18.00 per hour.

This position provides supervision to feeding programs of The
Salvation Army - Springfield. This position is expected to comply
with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State, and Local
policies, and standards. This position is expected to advance and
support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
Essential Functions
Comply with all safety and health regulations/codes regarding food
preparation and service including maintenance of proper sanitation
by wearing plastic gloves, hair nets, and aprons.
Ensure that all food served meets State and Local standards and
requirements including, but not limited to, the temperature of
foods served.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with Salvation Army Safe from
Harm guidelines.
Oversee all kitchens and their operation, including the supervision
of staff and volunteers, assist as necessary.
Monitor food stock supplies to ensure adequate and fresh inventory
levels. Prepare purchase orders for approval prior to shopping
in-person or submitting online order. Stewardship principles should
be practiced in all areas of inventory management and
procurement.
Guide in planning menus for kitchens to ensure meals are tasty and
diverse while meeting nutrition and contractual requirements.
Coordinate, plan, and execute or assist in events to include, but
not limited to, recognition dinners and other Corps community
events.
Coordinate and assist with Emergency Disaster Service Food Services
operations.
Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in
a courteous and professional manner that fosters good relationships
with program participants, co-workers, and supervisors. Conflict
resolution skills may be needed on occasion.

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of culinary training program and five years' experience
required. Combination of education and experience will be
considered. Excellent professional communication skills (both oral
and written). Previous management and/or supervision experience
preferred. Event planning and volunteer supervision experience is a
plus. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
Medically qualified to work in the food service area. Ability to
lead a team engaged in several projects simultaneously. Hold or
obtain a Class E Driver's License upon hire and pass The Salvation
Army MVR check. Obtain CPR/First Aid training within ninety (90)
days of hire.
Physical and Working Conditions
Must be able to perform the above essential duties. Capable of
performing in an office environment to include using a computer,
answering phones, etc. Most work will be indoors in a
temperature-controlled environment. However, the kitchen will rise
above 80 degrees Fahrenheit at times and the walk-in freezer
temperature may be at zero (0) degrees Fahrenheit or below.
Employee Status
FULL TIME: Normal work hours will be determined with supervisor.
However, working additional hours including some weekends may be
required.
